Another small wiki update!
A new posting editor has been installed for those who lack knowledge in wiki coding. To use it, simply go into the page editor and click the toggle button:
And it will reload as this:
This new editor will likely be more familiar to many of you and make it easier to update pages. It also allows you to see coding changes you make as you make them in your post. Unfortunately, color codes and fonts are not accessible yet this way and will still require wiki code knowledge. I will look into this at a later time hopefully. The new editor also allows you to easily link something to a category by using the very last symbol on the first line. Please note that many categories in the list may be deleted and moved around though since there are presently too many.
Numerous categories have been deleted and merged into other categories. As a result, many pages have moved into somewhere easier to access.
The Location category is now mostly in its final form, now neatly organizing locations by the following subcategories: City-State, Geography, Global Region, Hamlet, Player-Made Location, and Region. Landmarks may also be added at another time.
Wiki tutorials have been updated a bit more. See the "Wiki Tutorials" link on the wiki sidebar for more details.
New content has been added in various sections.
Note:
The wiki was originally launched very messily. The number of categories used was overwhelming and has been trimmed drastically (and will continue to be trimmed). This made pages very difficult to find and it was even worse due to the lack of organization and linking between categories. More changes will continue to be made, though the wiki is certainly much more manageable now than it was previously. Please note that this wiki is not meant to be like other wikis such as Zam's or Eorzeapedia's. Their wikis are extremely extensive in terms of gameplay aspects. The RPC wiki is primarily focused on lore only. We actually do have a ton of stuff that no other wiki has in that department and it's best we continue focusing on that angle since going any other angle would be a waste of time and energy. We do not need a database of items, stats of beasts, etc. That kind of stuff would be looked up via other wikis, not ours.
Other changes include an overhaul of the bestiary section. Presently, each beast type is set up as a category (such as dodos having their own category). This is unnecessary since this wiki doesn't need to list every single type of dodo in the game. NPC's will also be given a subcategory of player-made npcs.
If you have any suggestions to other changes you'd like to see to the wiki, please feel free to note them here. I can't promise anything, but I will look into things at the very least.
