I'll get it, though the look with hexagons first made me believe I am buying Catan.

Let us tease these elementals a little like they used to be in the past, shall we? I mean they did it at least once a year I think. Can't be that bad!
I don't find the idea appealing, really I don't. Greenwrath and such?
So where do we lit the fire?

Yes, I added kimiji. If you go to your friend list, you should see a notification there. You'll know it's me when you see the creepy picture of Giygas from EarthBound. >_>

That game is ridiculous. My German friends love it though. Mainstay at their house, along with the most delicious, freshly cooked bread and pastries.

Well guess what, Germans seem to like not only bad ass rpg like Gothic - produced at first by a german team - they also tend to like simulations and therefore games like Civilisation, Anno - I believe the Anno series is a German product too - or strategic empire building games for the whole family - yes some of our families aren't lonely patchwork monsters - which of course aren't that complex in comparison, but our parents aren't up to date with technology to play LAN sometimes.

Yes, I have Catan!

I'm the girl that always played Catharine the Great.

Mostly because she was always the only female that looked... umm normal?

That and the Russian units always rocked.... oh and vodka! :cheer:

So my workplace will be having a "launch party" for Civ 5. I decided I'll join them.

Uhh so on Steam it says it unlocks in 14 hours?

I thought Steam unlocked stuff at midnight on release day? Undecided

Even less time to play before FFXIV than I thought... meh I'll wait for the version they'll eventually release with all the expansions added.

I just played the demo.....

Frustrated

I was getting really into it then... DEMO OVER.

Game feels like it fixed everything I loathed about Civ4, especially the combat. UI is SO easy and quick to use now.

Now I have to decide if I should pay $50 for a game I'll be shelving for awhile in a day.

It is really, REALLY fun. Like, whoa. I might end up shelfing FFXIV for it! Haha, no, probably not, but it makes for a good LAN game. I have a lot of friends who got it, and I'm really looking forward to this weekend 'cos it looks like it'll be my first opportunity to play a full game with people. Big Grin

Got to admit, I sort of miss religion being involved.

I mean, don't get me wrong. Civilization IV took it way too far, and if you focused on just gobbling religions up, you were all but assured a cultural victory. Not to mention it was overpowered in other ways as well, ranging from benefits given to units, to all the money you raked in from religious wonders, and so on.

But it had its place, and if it had been watered down and diluted a little but, it could have been nice to keep.

C'est la vie, though. The demo's been very fun so far, and I have very few, if any complaints about it.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one.

For those of you thinking of buying... the boxed copy is the same price as the Steam copy and doesn't offer anything you don't get with the Steam version. You can also pay a little more to get the deluxe version on Steam which has another civ but I think I'll pass on that. One really cool thing about buying it on Steam is that they will be donating some of the proceeds to a charity and you can choose which charity you want yours to go to. Moogle

EDIT: Erf... just bought but had no option to choose a charity... Undecided

I got my Steam copy all installed (and I was able to choose a charity after installation). But much to my chagrin, there is no Viking civilization. No Ragnar in this one. Cry

Oh, well, there is still Bismarck! I suppose in lieu of Ragnar, another Germanic leader will do.

Guess we all know where Ragnar has been lately... He's already preparing an attack from the inside of the comming expansion.
