So after flipping through the pages of presets, I settled on the name Crucial Trot (I think? Keep forgetting the damn bird's name) for my racerbird for the simple reason of "That sounds about as silly as actual racehorse names."
Turned out to be appropriate, as the very first race I ran, I won it by pacing my speed gauge while the lead bird gassed out at the final straight. |

That's how I seem to manage placing decently well most of the time. Though sometimes I hold back too much and I have, like, 20-30% more stamina than everyone else near the end and I go "OH" and spam dash the rest of the way. ... though I did have one race where EVERYONE miscalculated and we did the last third to a quarter of the rest with all the birds exhausted. Watching a full line of 8 birds panting their way to the finish line was pretty hilarious. |
