Hi there!
I am still less than a week into my FFXIV experience. It is the first numbered Final Fantasy game I have played since V (ha!) but I do enjoy it so far. I am not new to RP, and enjoy roleplaying in many different forms online and offline. I am curious what it is like in FFXIV, and have read a bit about Balmung and the transfer option. I'd love to know what kinds of things people enjoy roleplaying in their Free Companies, and what your experiences have been like! I am also interested to know if there is a good resource for information about the setting aside from simple exploration in-game. Thanks a bunch, and I look forward to possibly RPing with some of you!

Hello! Â Welcome! Â I'm not sure how to respond to some of your questions, but I can tell you that there's a lot of open world RP on Balmung. Â Every Free Company is different, and so different Free Companies are going to focus on different types of RP. Â Some might be more focused on adventure-type RP, while others more on town RP, merchant RP, etc. Â It just really depends on where you go.

I would say that the best resource for lore in the game is probably this website. Â If you look in the RP Discussion section, there are a lot of threads about various bits of lore. Â Additionally, doing the Main Story Quest will also provide you with heaps of lore. Â Smile

A Liadan said, every person and every free company is different, but you can find just about every type of role-play you'd expect here. As for learning the game's lore, aside from the discussion threads here and what you learn in game, at the top menu you can see a "Wiki" link that can take you to the RPC's wiki which contains a few thread about the game's lore.

After posting here I skimmed the site briefly and was pretty impressed with the variety of threads and information about the setting! I suppose I shall have to sit down and decide what sort of character I would like to play so that I can level and do a transfer, but I look forward to it!
