She's overconfident and probably not quite as smart as she thinks she is.
She's working on learning all three magical arts with arcanist the primary focus(From the class quests its played as the most intellectual of the three magical arts).
She definately thinks of herself as mentally primary that doesn't mean she won't dabble outside her quest goals but I am generally going to treat any time she's playing in any DOW class as weaker than other members who are more primarily that. That's generally what i have currently, I haven't had much chance to see how she'd play off of other rpers during the weekend.
This sounds interesting. Â If you plan to play on Balmung maybe we can RP together to get a personality hashed out.
I would like to try to RP with you. Â The sage concept is a good one!
Yep I rolled her on Balmung, my desire to deal with the most populated server was not strong and I actually like High level peeps both from an rp sense as "Those are the guys in the know already" and from a mechanical sense.
as for getting a personality hashed, its come to be my perspective that every plan I have for a character is quickly redefined by her interaction with others, they properly take on a "voice" once they have interacted with others.
This is true! Â I hope then maybe we can get together this weekend! Â I would love to!(08-20-2013, 09:59 AM)Penny! Wrote: Hmm... I'm sure Penny (Penelope) is on the way to becoming a sage. Though, she wouldn't be as random as the example depicts. Her history only calls for her to be sage and possibly an archer when the time comes. ^_^
Is she the sort of worldly scholar type? Â I am curious now.
She's already got a lead in Conjuration due to her mother's family specialising in healing aether. I've had some time to think of her backstory so much due to beta's being so far apart.

Well done! Â Sounds like you really have the history thought out!

My character definitely falls into the "jack of all trades" category because of his personality and upbringing. He's definitely not a mime, though. I plan to grind out every last class (and probably, because of that, be slower than the average leveler), but I expect to have great fun doing it.
I haven't gotten access to the dye system yet, but I hear they added some new colors in the beta. It might be fun to try experimenting with that, even though I loathed the "mismatched clown suit" look in other games. Anything but a subligar will do... |

My own character is inspired in part by the likes of Gabranth, Basch, Vossler and Beatrix. I've always been fond of role-playing characters that are a little older than most - usually in their early thirties - who range from honourable to morally grey yet driven by a personal set of rules that they stick to closely. Hopefully I'm not the only one doing as such in order to prevent my character being swamped by those that are portrayed teenagers or in their early twenties.

Mixing things up with respect to disciplines is also something I might consider doing, as Kevaraan is eclectic (his philosophy is borrowed from a variety of explanations, not just the Twelve.) Helena and he would probably get along, as he can't focus too well either. This amalgamation approach extends to not only his jobs, but his beliefs and lifestyle, as well.
He's certainly not excellent at everything he does--there are things he's better and worse at. For example, he's much too tense to be a fluid shot with a bow, and he doesn't have the muscle or physical skill to move comfortably in a full set of heavy plate. As such, his IC armor would probably be much lighter than one might expect a typical gladium to wear. He mostly wears leather. As someone who's used to playing specialized characters, this is a breath of fresh air, and I want to take full advantage of it (in terms of advantages and flaws or accidents.) One cool thing about this game is that the gear segregation is much blurrier--there are class restrictions but not armor grade restrictions (No Cloth/Leather/Mail/Plate). Instead of obviously wearing all cloth, mages in this game are allowed to wear spectacles, and a lot of their sets have leather or metal detailing, like Scholar hats. It's possible to wear sandals as a warrior or a caster. Melee classes get to wear cloth bandanas on occasion. It's great. I'd also be open to more discussion about the topic if either of you are interested. |

I have a character design *very* deeply rooted in the lore of the game.
To summarize: Virgil is a young Arcanist wise far beyond his years, entranced with the study of all forms of magic and ultimately become a scholar. When the Arcanist Guildmaster disappeared, Virgil set off on a journey to find his mentor and bring him back to Limsa Lominsa. He is a halfbreed between the two Miqo'te tribes, but doesn't think speaking about that is relevant. -- If you would be interested in roleplaying, I'll be on the Balmung server. Hope to see you there! Hope gives the earth blessings

While I will not be a villain per say (but that can be subject to change based on views and what goes down in rp XD) I have created an anti-hero http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=3786Â so if anybody needs a villain, someone who is at least antagonistic or create tension during an rp plot I am more than game to do so. Look forward to playing with you all .

I'm new to this forum, didn't even know it existed until I met Alothia on the FFXIV forums, so hello!
I don't currently have any villains, I have a jaded healer and that's about it. However years back when Neverwinter Nights (the original folks) was out, I played on a dedicated Dragonlance server that was custom build and maintained that lore.  I ended up playing a character that every other player managed to depise, she was Archmage of the Black Robes which took a ton of RP to get to and an in-game vote from all the respective mages.  I utterly loved that character as she had so much depth, the only problem I usually foresee with villains is they need to have: 1. A group of people willing to recognise them as powerful/problematic 2. A group of people willing to let them get away with some villainous activities 3. Time to establish themselves as notorious 4. And a person who's prepared to be oocly hated by players who are new to roleplay. If I knew that folks were down for that type of villain again, I could certainly develop one, but I would need time to establish him/her before really launching into any huge plots etc. ...Although I quite like the idea of a cult (as mentioned on the first page), start off with one individual and then expand so you end up with a lead villain and multiple other notorious figures; that would take some work to set up though. |
