So did anyone get in? They supposedly sent the first wave today in preparation for the 11th.

please navigate to "Forum" > "Play Guide" > "Read Me."

(4)Download the client
The FINAL FANTASY XIV client will be distributed via download. Please
see the "Download" section of the Tester Site for more information.

Requests and Warnings
- To allow for optimal improvements to the game system, game balance,
and server load balancing, testers are asked to actively report any and
all bugs and defects they observe.
- The release of information pertaining to the Alpha Test to sources
other than the Tester Site forum is strictly prohibited. Schedules for
the public release of information will be announced at a later date.
Until then, all information should be treated as confidential.
- Announcements will continually be posted under the "Forum" section of
the Tester Site. Please be sure to check periodically for updates.
- The software used during the Alpha Test is under development, and may
differ significantly from the commercial release.
- Please be aware that there are no plans to transfer Alpha Test
character data to the official release of the game.

I'm taking this to mean you got in, Zjin? Congrats! I know one other member of ours was invited as well. I've set up a post on our own forums for information of the game that Alpha testers can provide.

No I didn't get in, at least not yet. What I'm confused about is their use of Alpha and Beta. I'm sure it's a translation mistake or something. A Beta in the Alpha?

Alpha is going on right now, I believe. All those who attended Vana'Fest got in. Beta begins on the 11th.

I have been using them interchangeably, since the dates are so close together. But yes. Alpha is now. First Beta Wave is the 11th is my understanding.

Okay, according to someone who was picked for the Alpha test, it does NOT start today. They're not able to start until March 11th. They're just starting to notify people today.

As for Beta testing, there's no date set for it yet.

Yes, even in their letter it's confusing. The person I know who was invited in had to email SE support just to confirm what was going on.

If I am not mistaken, It was retracted. They are saying Invitations start on 1st and open beta test site is the 11th. No more information beyond that it has been given officially as far as I have read. Anyone can retract on this if anything found. Everything else is speculations. The e-mail is stated as "people says." I believe info is in ezeorpedia or core.

Also, is funny they said

in the so called beta email instead of " go to Read Me under the Play Guide thread in the forum." which is how they usually talk, or used to :lol!:

I myself am not active in FFXI any longer, not for about a year anyway, nor am I about to re-activate just for this (eh I've considered re-activating, but after 6 years I'm ready to leave everything I previously accomplished behind and start fresh -- and I'm not sure I like the thought of starting over from scratch in FFXI or not [oh dear god, a sub-job-less character :shock: )

However, I think it is an excellent opportunity, all be it a small one, to get current FFXI players an early crack at FFXIV! Smile
