I've never played the tabletop (My experience has been limited to ADnD 2.0-4e, AFMBE, Savage Worlds, WFRP/40k, and Legends of the Wulin, though the last one never got farther than the first session. Sigh.), but I have played Bloodlines. It's one of those games I periodically re-install just to play again, honestly. Even if I always end out cheesing the game with Toreador celerity gunslinging.

unlikely eve players are smart folk and very good making business if you haven't played eve keep you mouth shut. i don't see wow players to play this its out from that market

I love toreadors one of my favorite clans along with malkavians and Nosferatu. toreadors reminds me lot of anne rice's interview with the vampire lestat

But it won't be EVE players; they will stick to playing what they have invested their time and money into. WoD Online will be every LARPer and vampire fanatic in existence. A good portion of which are complete idiots. And don't tell people to shut up unless you're looking to start a fight, you illiterate ass.

To be completely fair, WoD is not a special case by any means.Â Every online game is going to have idiots, so it should be expected. The WoD MMO will have more than its fair share of idiotic vampire LARPers/fanatics just as FFXIV has more than its fair share of idiotic weeaboos. (Yeah, that's right. I said it.) The level of stupidity in the player base is not going to be any higher than usual. At least not significantly, anyway.

But, just like RP griefers, we can easily just ignore them.

Izzy, you are extremely naive if you honestly think that every single EVE player is intelligent. Just because it's a CCP game doesn't mean it will necessarily be played by the same kinds of folks who play EVE (all of which, as I just said, are not necessarily smart). Not to mention that you're actually quite wrong in your final statement. While the target audience for this game is aimed at neither player base, you're gonna see a LOT more WoW vets interested in that game than you will EVE vets. It's closer to their niche.

In all fairness, I haven't seen THAT many real weeaboos. I mean, I've seen people called 'Naruto Bleach' walking around, but as far as actually Japanese animation/gaming discussion? It's all been pretty enlightened with a wide variety of tastes.

But WoD is a grimdark vampire fantasy world that has a heavy influence on rebellion and liberation. It was long before Twilight was a twinkle in that deeply disturbed woman's mind. It always catered to angsty teenagers as a way to live out their fantasies of being sexy monsters that don't have to live by arbitrary human laws. That's not to say ALL or even MOST players are angry teens. I think most people who are invested in White Wolf's universe are probably older and more mature.

Table Tops take vastly more effort as a hobby than anime or videogames. The thing is? WoD MMO will be an easy access for people that know nothing about the context or themes, who associate vampires with the 'dark but soft' modern spin rather than the 'classic punk' influence of Lestat that oWoD was made for.

In short, the ratio of 'idiots' will likely be improbably high.

Different strokes for different folks, I'm afraid. You just haven't experienced what others and I have. That being said, the game is certainly notÂ overrun with such behavior. But itÂ is there, it's the sort of thing some would expect to be present, yet the majority of FFXIV's player base doesn't consist of it.

I think the same will be true for the WoD MMO. The sorts of players that Raccoon suggested will definitely be there, but I highly doubt the overall percentage of stupidity is going be 40% higher or more than that of what is found in most other MMOs. A small part of the reason I think this is actually because of what you said about longtime WWolf fans typically (though not always) being older and more mature.

That, and... I don't think how accessible something is, nor the self-perceived estimate of the amount of effort one hobby takes over another, are necessarily the best tools to be using for this sort of speculation. But that's just me.

Well, naturally. It's my opinion based on my experiences. I didn't mean to imply anything about it was objectively true.

I believe the goth culture aspects encompass a larger part of the teenage population than the 'otaku' culture does. Therefore, I think it more likely WoD MMO will have more teenagers. Because of this, more players will be idiots, because teenagers are irrevocably stupid. That's my hypothesis.

And of course accessibility is a factor in popularity. Books become more popular when they're made into movies. Now people who don't want to be invested in the time and depth of a novel can get the story in a 3 hour chunk. I guarantee you with 100% certainty more people have watched Game of Thrones than have read the entirety of A Song of Fire and Ice. It does take effort to be invested in a story regardless of medium, but some require more focus, more time, more monetary investment.

Buying and reading books, finding players/a GM, physically showing up to a session, doing your own character book-keeping, and accounting for random acts of player/GM interference versus sitting at a computer with all possible values already defined... Which takes less effort?

Of course popularity does not mean it necessarily draws the pop culture (commonly called a 'cult' hit), and accessibility doesn't necessarily make it popular (plenty of shitty AAA games available on all consoles). It's just my speculation, because these are typical, observable trends. Certainly not rules!

The effort/popularity thing aside, I personally believe that the gothic subculture doesn't have as large of a following in the present day. That is, not when it comes to teens. Gothic culture (as we know it in 2013), is no longer what it was thirty, twenty, or even ten years ago. From my experience, I've seen less and less teens as traditional goths in the current day. (They're still around, of course. Just drastically less in number that the amount seen in the early 90s.) In the past decade, not necessarily otaku culture in particular, but geek cultureÂ seems to have taken on a stronger presence in the current day than goth culture has. Mind you, I'm still only talking about teens as the audience here.

However, I can only speak from what I've witnessed. Perhaps it's different in certain parts of America, or in different parts of the world. Maybe there is a stronger following than I know of and I simply haven't heard of it yet. *shrugs*

Back to the flavor of the player base thing, there is a correlation between a high number of teens and stupidity, but neither causes the other. Perhaps we'll be lucky and if there is a strong teen demographic for the WoD MMO, they'll mostly be mature ones? Who knows.
