((OOC Welcome))

(( *Invokes Roleplaying fluid timeline*: I realize the Hipparion Tribe scouting party has not reached Ul'dah Garden yet, but I'm unable to log in for the next month while underway, and would really like the chance for Torvhan to speak with the scouts, SO I'm starting thread on forums. ))

(( Taking some liberties here but I'll placing the setting as thus K'ailia, K'luha, K'ile, and K'haali are walking around the Garden as K'ailia shows them around, Torvhan spots them and introduces himself, This can be placed before or after the party meets with Ventus which I know they are planning on ))

Torvhan walked the halls of the Garden on a bright lit morning lost in thought. At 20 years, Torvhan was a well-built young man, clean shaven with short brown hair cut close and trimed in military fashion. He wore the bright red uniform that announced his rank among those of the Garden's students. Though young and bright eyed he moved with the grace and power of a experienced fighter, years of training and combat in the Coliseum showed as he trans-versed the hallways.

He had spoken a couple times with K'ailia over the Garden's linkshell, and knew that the Hipparion Tribe's scouting party was coming to examine the Garden sometime in the future, but he hadn't heard from her recently. He thought about what she had mentioned about the results of their tribal meeting.

He knew they were right about some of their suspicions, and he wished the chance to explain exactly why and what he originally planned. But should they choose to decline the offer or if they found another place to settle he wondered if there was anything he could do. Though the tribes situation was vastly difference he couldn't help be reminded of when the Calamity took the homes and parents of so many orphans in Ul'dah. Working together the orphans had survived but Torvhan constantly sought ways to help the orphanages and other organizations that seek to help. Torvhan respected Ventus's vision, while others might think he was taking advantage of orphans to turn them in to soldiers for his EXiLEs, he doubted any of those people had been orphans themselves lost and homeless. But he often saw others taking advantage of orphans in such ways, so he found himself training among this Garden watching its leader from the ranks, learning; but also keeping mindful of the risks to the orphans here should Ventus choose to take advantage of the situation.

Lost in his own thoughts Torvhan missed the sound of K'ailia's voice carrying around the corner of the hallway. As they both rounded at the same time K'ailia was also distracted, speaking to the group she guided and they colliding with one another crashing to the floor. Torvhan was stunned for a half second but recovered quickly jumping to his feet and proffering her a hand up. "Sorry about that K'ailia, I should have been paying more attention to my surroundings."

As he helped K'ailia back to her feet he noticed her companions and repectfully introduced himself. "I'm Torvhan Durant, a student here."

K'ailia walked along the hallway with her tribemates. She was showing them that Garden wasn't as bad as they thought. That what was going on here, was a good thing.

But the whole time, on her mind was her own future. How could she leave the tribe, without completely destroying her mother? Of all her tribemates, her mother was the only one that mattered to her. Focusing on trying to find the answer she suddenly felt like she ran into a wall a found herself laying on the floor dazed when the hand helped her to her feet.

"oi Torvhan, this is my tribe. My mother K'luha whom I love very much. K'haali, and K'ile..." the last name she said in a tone that even K'ile could tell was lacking respect or affection at this point.

Indeed, she did not like K'ile, even though he had for a short time, earned some respect from her for their little talk in Ul'dah before the actual scouting began, that respect was gone the moment he uttered the words that he'd have her mate if she gave herself over to him to learn the tribe ways. To make matters worse, she started suspecting he and her mother were already disrespecting the tribe ways. She suspected those two were either close to mating, or already have. But she said nothing on that matter yet.

Torvhan listened as K'ailia introduced the members of her tribe. His mind raced through the lines of discussion he had rehearsed many times since he had come up with the idea. But he quickly moved to speak; now was the time for action.

"It is a pleasure to meet some of your K'ailia's family." He turned to address K'ailia's mother, he was not positive but what little he knew of K'ailia's tribe its likely K'luha would be the leader of the small group."Ma'am, I have heard your tribe has reservations about the idea for your tribe to stay here at the Garden with us. If you have any questions; I would be happy to answer them. I proposed the idea to the Headmaster, and would be in charge of organizing the effort should you choose to stay with us."

The Garden was... lovely really. It was far from natural, but still maintained some of the world's natural beauty that she knew and loved. It was an organic mix of natural and artificial that K'luha found herself fond of almost instantly. Still, she was hesitant to admit she enjoyed the place. Almost as if enjoying it was dangerous. Certainly it might be, especially after recent events had unfolded between herself and Ventus...Â

She gave a small sigh, only half-listening to K'ailia as they walked. Her mind was full of racing questions as it always was these days. What was the place made of? How was it hidden like this? Was it still technically in Ul'dah even? How could they have funded such a large place? Even the Syndicate of Ul'dah should have trouble funding such a large place, shouldn't they? After all, they didn't have an infinite amount of gil. Or perhaps they did. But did that mean the Syndicate technically owned the place?Â

K'luha blinked and stopped in her tracks out of impulse when K'ailia rounded the corner only to fall backwards. Her hands quickly reached for her bow, only to stop when a male Hyur revealed himself as the perpetrator and helped K'aila to her feet.Â

Torvhan? What a strange name. Even for the Outsiders and the Hyurs, the name seemed distinctly unique. Perhaps it was only an alias. Although K'luha didn't think on the strange name too much as K'ailia introduced the man to her family with a very distinct tone of the voice that indicated her apathy for K'haali and dislike of K'ile.Â

"K'ailia." K'luha snapped sharply, interrupting the others to scold her daughter. "Watch your tongue. You may not like him, but you will show respect for your elders at the very least." The reminder was brief before she allowed Torvhan to speak again.Â

Certainly these Ul'dahns were charmers and flatters, but they only did that to get their own way. K'luha had enough experience with them that she saw the Garden members a bit differently, albeit she was still wary of them.Â

Out of politness, K'luha returned the small bow to Torvhan and straightened up again.

"Yes, I did have questions. Why is it that you would allow an entire tribe to say with you without a price? Surely there is something you want from us in return. Some way you wish to utilize our presence? And where is it precisely that we would be staying in the Garden? Are we free to roam about, or are we trapped within a confined space? Is there hunting space and game in that area? I would not think the tribe would be comfortable living off food handouts from the Garden. It would be unacceptable to be unable to practice our way of life. Would it be possible even, to have you give us the land also, so that we would not be living off of your aid, but instead living nearby? I should think that we could find some way to make an arrangement that is profitable to both of us, but none of with wish to be completely at your mercy. That is why I do not think any of us trust an agreement of simply giving us anything." she cleared her throat, realizing she had probably just intimidated the man by her fiery demeanor and rage of somewhat angry sounding questions. Well, hopefully the Gardener wouldn't be so intimidated he couldn't answer her.

It was a cave. No matter how much they'd prettied it up or big of a cave it was, the place was under ground. It was hidden out of Azeyma's day like lair of a primal that couldn't bear her gaze. That this deeply unsettled K'ile Tia should not have come as a surprise, and would've been fairly obvious to his companions. He agitation was visible in how his ears sat low on the back of his head, just bearly lifting to listen to the voices around him, and in the occasional shiver of his tail.

When K'luha snapped at K'ailia, K'ile muttered quietly, beneath the conversation, "It's fine. She can be mad at me if she wants." The statement took almost no thought; primarily, he was listening to K'luha's torrent of questions. They were each well-put and straight, just as he'd expect from the woman, though he thought she was being too nice about it.

As she finished her questions, the firey-haired Tia stepped up beside K'luha, considering the Hyur. Leave it to Hyur to have such an insulting idea, and leave it K'ailia to get caught up in it. To add his own tone to the conversation, he said pointedly to the Hyur, "Keep in mind that your offer did carry a certain tone of insult." He spoke meanly, but it was intended as mercy. No Hyur could be expected to understand the implications of this idea. K'ailia should have, but apparently she didn't express that to the Hyur. So K'ile Tia gave him the overdue warning so that the Hyur could speak with the necessary deference, if he had the capacity to do so.

Torvhan winced slightly when K'luha chided her daughter, he knew from experience how embarrassing that could be when it happened in public. K'luha shifted gears quickly and Torvhan listened intently as the woman spoke, making a mental note of each question she fired at him.

As soon as she finished the lone male in their party spoke. Torvhan thought for a moment before answering. "I am afraid I can offer you no apology at this time as I do not understand the nature of the insult, perhaps due to my lack of understanding of your ways. However I assure you I meant no insult or disrespect towards your tribe when I brought my idea to the Headmaster."

Torvhan turned back towards K'luha, "As for why I brought the idea up, following the Calamity myself and other orphans of Ul'dah learned that you have to work together when you find your home can no longer support you. I carry that lesson forward with me. But perhaps my original idea was not fully conveyed, the Headmaster mentioned my idea was cold at one point, that it would be 'using' your tribe. I do not see it as such, but perhaps this flavored the offer be brought forth.What I proposed was a mutual alliance. The Garden has ample space but is largely populated by students, and though a large number of our staff are expert combatants the students are less so. With the Garlean army becoming more active, Eorzea is becoming a more dangerous place, and I believe both our Garden and your Tribe would be vulnerable, it is possible the Garleans could ignore both the Garden and your tribe but I dislike leaving such things to chance."

"But there is more that just defense, I know that your tribe is known for it's expert hunters, and the lands of Thanalan are more bountiful than those of the desert it is possiable you would have surplus from your hunts which the Garden might trade for, to decrease our own costs in food expenses. The are also many skills we might teach each other, this is a school at the end of the day."

"For where you would relocate to, the original plan was for the tribe to settle in the Quad, but if that is too close to the Garden for your tribe's comfort, perhaps further outside might be looked into, but I am unsure of how far the Garden's lands stretch. As for hunting though there are settlements in Thanalan, there are no restrictions on hunting such as the spirits of the Black Shroud impose. Your movements outside would not be restricted and when your tribe is ready to leave no one will stop you from moving to your new home. But access to areas inside the Garden would be up to the headmasters discretion."

"I am young and perhaps idealistic, but I merely see an opportunity in which friends can assist one another."

With that he clamped his mouth shut, he was probably already rambling and he thought it best to wait for their replies before trying to speak further.

K'ailia flattened her ears against her head under her mothers scolding. And they remained there once her mother turned her attention to Torvhan. And when K'ile chimed in practically screaming foul, K'ailia had seen enough.

Quietly she slipped away from the group and went down the hallway they had already passed through and found herself back in the main lobby. She was furious. But throughout it all she could tell Torvhan's emotions were far more collected than her own. But she already knew the tribes answers by now.

After more walking she found herself in the Training Center. Here she would release her anger on the poor unsuspecting target dummies. She unleashed a torrent of wind that began making cuts all over several of the dummies, and followed up with sending bits of earth up before herself and punching them into the groin areas of the dummies.

K'ailia growled and spoke to herself, "One reason... just one reason is all I'd need to ensure K'ile's line ends with him..." as she looked at each of the training dummies now broke in half where the groin area would of been.

"Your strikes are full of anger," observed a mild voice from nearby. In a corner of the Garden's training center, unnoticed, a middle-aged hyur sat, knees neatly folded 'neath him, in seiza posture. The crimson-haired stranger sipped from a rounded cup of tea, his peaceful demeanor at odds with his scarred countenance and grim eyepatch.

His remaining eye stayed closed and relaxed for a few more moments, before he opened it to regard K'ailia politely. He wore not the red uniform of Garden students, but remained clothed in his own ebon garb instead. "Expending that much energy, that swiftly would leave you open to counterattack on the battlefield," he offered. "You seem aware of that, though. You move with the stance of an experienced hunter."

K'ailia spun around at the voice. But she instantly relaxed upon seeing the uniform.

"Yeah well... I don't know how else to relieve the anger." she said, panting the as she tried to relax.

"I don't recognize you. I am the chief medical officer, K'ailia Yohko." she spoke once she caught her breath.

"I'm a prospective new student, Chief Medical Officer Yohko. I think that means I should call you ma'am."

The stranger took another sip of his tea. His dark garb appeared loose and easy to move in, his breathing relaxed and soft. He appeared oddly out of place, almost like a ghost from another time. "I've already met the headmaster. He was highly eager to accept new applicants. And to discuss the million-gil bounty on his head."

He opened his one good eye again, taking the time to glance quietly around the chamber. "Call me Schezar, if you would, ma'am. Most people do. I've been taking a personal tour of the Garden facilities, since being invited in. It looks as if the Syndicate's coin was certainly put to good use, at the very least."

As he looked back again at the miqo'te, the man smiled. Again, the benign gesture clashed rather jarringly with his battle-scarred appearance. "I haven't quite decided yet which vocational classes to attend. Or if I'll even be staying on for that long. Still, I'm curious - will you be the one in charge of studies for healing and first aid?"

(Sorry about the late arrival to the thread xD - couldn't find a spot to jump in for a while then kind've forgot about the thread for a few days <.< - it's safe to say K'haali's been present with the party but just listening intently, nothing much to really cause her to interject til Torvahn's explanation)

Torvahn's explanation of the tribe helping serve as warriors against the Garleans immediately strikes a very raw nerve, which K'haali struggles to contain - but rather than creating a sceneshe carefully positions herself behind the older members of the party, hiding her barely concealed anger and words from Torvahn.

"Surely I don't need to remind ourselves what happened the last time Eorzea came to us, asking our aid to fight the Garleans?"

K'haali sneaks a glance past the others, training her gaze with one eye on Torvahn, watching him intently.

"K'ile; your brother, my fatherrr died along with almost all of the tribe's able hunters - nearly an entire generation wiped out. We wouldn't even be in this position if we hadn't agreed to a help defend against the Garleans 5 years ago, and now they want another generation to serve as their fodder. The price they ask is too high!"
