After drooling over so many of the talented artists here I thought I'd like to share some of my stuff.Â
The paintings I do tend to be inspired by RP in someway. I get this picture in my head that torments me until I get it out.
I recently tried to do some commissions as part of a housing fundraiser for our company, but learned that I don't make a very good commission artist as I tend to get burst-y with inspiration and can easily lose interest in a piece I'm doing if I become frustrated or I tend to be way too perfectionist-y and it tends to cause me to take a good long while to complete things, especially if the inspiration to do them dissipates.
In the end I always tend to feel like I've let the commissioner down in some way, but I may open them up if my schedule allows or I have interests from patient parties.
Here are some of the 'quick' six-hour-ish commissions I did for our fundraiser. I tend to find a stock pose to block out the lines and work from that to paint the character(s).
This is one of my larger projects, a 'grand prize' in the fundraiser. I tried a lot of new techniques with this project and it took waaaay longer than I wanted, but I learned a lot, so that's a thing.
Tried a new style in quick portraits:
I had the opportunity to be part of the Ul'dah melo-drama that was Askier's bomb plot and got the idea to paint him in the glow of his big boomy death device. I had fun playing with the colors and light in this one.
