Might as well toss my opinion in here.
Death is a strange concept for me to grasp irl and I have a hard time responding to it normally; however I still greatly dislike it and honestly over the past 7 years I've been rping I haven't had any of my characters die because I didn't want it and was in a position to avoid it most of the time.
I would be heartbroken if a char I'm very invested in died, granted you are aware of my altaholism so of course not all my chars mean to me as much as others. If my Ishgardian were to die I would be upset because he never got to achieve his full potential and be the knight I want him to be. This sort of thinking is what I use for my more minor and/or underdeveloped characters, however my more important chars like Valthoran, Merri, and Aurelia mean a whole hell of a lot to me and if they died I would make a new char dedicated to assassinating whoever was lucky and stupid enough to take me down, haha.
But to bring a solid answer to your question, no I don't think I could accept a perma-death situation unless I had very specific terms set in place beforehand. Granted my personal experience with my chars not dieing while having a lot of others chars around mine dieing makes me biased.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.
