Kids. I've dabbled with roleplaying little brothers and sisters as NPCs, and I've actually made a couple of PCs for this purpose, but....
Roleplaying children and adolescents after you're long past those phases is hard. They don't talk the same, walk the same, they don't even think in the same logical progressions that we do. Taking oneself back a decade or two or however long it's been isn't easy. Stepping into those shoes again is awkward, because the whole time I'm in them I'm thinking, "this is dumb. This is stupid. I would never do this. I would never say that. WTF, kid." It doesn't jive with the here-and-now, and for me that's a difficult gap to surmount, those years.
Hopping the gender terminator is not so difficult in comparison, for me. =xÂ
