I've noticed these trends for years. People who claim to want to live in these worlds - the first thing I bring up is the rampant killing the world is filled with.
All MMO's play to one basic emotion - lust for power. We don't play them because we want to vanquish evil. We do so because we like the idea of being stronger than we are in real life.
