Name: Delial Grimsong
World: BalmungÂ
Character main class/job/role (Optional): Arcanist (or really a Scholar sans fairy)
Cards (recommended): Hanged Man or Judgement
Reason for Card choice (recommended):
Hanged Man: The themes of martyrdom and perspective are very prevalent in much of Delial's life, as is that of becoming a 'willing victim' in a sense (though her perspective on the role she plays herself has been skewed so strongly she might not recognize it herself). Throughout her life, she has played the villain to the benefit of others and to the benefit of a singular greater good she believes in so strongly she cannot see the truths beyond it. Yet she has been forced to seek consider alternate viewpoints, and she has come to question her actions (particularly regarding Gharen Wolfsong and Roen Deneith) as perhaps not quite as noble as she once thought. However she continues to act the aggressor in their defense, satisfied that it shall forever be her place in the universe to be monstrous to protect the hero. The means justify in the ends, and whether or not she will be remembered as a hero (as she believes herself to be) or a villain (as others have thought her to be) is of little importance in the end.
Judgement: Crossroads and change are also strong themes in Delial's character. Cause and effect and ultimately consequence are things she tries hard to control but when it comes to decisions she must make of herself, she often is given pause. She knows her calling, has lived it for years, and yet something does not feel right. Whether or not she has indeed awakened to what could be called a higher purpose has yet to be seen: yet Delial will walk on in pursuit of it, trusting in her own judgement to face whatever judgement might be cast upon her.
