However, when I try to craft a humorous scene, I like to give a darker or more complex reason for the behavior. A person who is awkward socially might have a very depressing reason for being so humorously inept that makes a reader uncertain of whether they should laugh. I want to get that kind of feeling, where something is involuntarily funny and you feel a certain sense of "simulated guilt."
