I too, am just fairly new with RP and FFXIV. Wish you a ton of luck and a lot of fun to be had! Also, regarding the whole "Balmung Open" things, if you have the spare $20.00 I would recommend just doing a server transfer. I tried to get into Balmung for other a week until I decided to pay for the transfer. Best decision in the game so far.
