"No can do, lass. I won' sell fer less'n twelve gil per ponze." the stingy vendor looked down his nose at Melody.
"Oooh, no can do?" she sounded like a little smart-ass. "Well, I won't buy for more than six per. I guess I'll have to go visit your competitor down the way and see if he can't do any better. I thought for sure you'd like to make a large sale today, but if you're not willing to work with me..." she shrugs and starts to walk away. The prices weren't much better than this guy's but the product was a lesser quality.
The seller looked at her with scrunched eyebrows. "Large sale? How much were ya needin' ta purchase exactleh?" he sounded more interested.
Melody gave him an annoyed sigh and turned back around, waving her lists. "Quite a bit. But, if you're not willing to work a deal what good does that do you?" she gives him a look that said 'you blew it, buddy' and continued to step away. She knew she called his bluff, but she was going to make him work for it now.
The vendor's eyes twinkled when he saw all the opportunity. "Wait wait wait, lass." he knew he'd been had and waved her back over. "I s'pose I can drop it down to ten per..." he said sounding slightly defeated.
"Now we're talking." she beamed and bounced back over to talk business.
She glanced down the hall briefly to see the professor and Martsia looking at axes. Mar's eyes looked greedy and Jigumundo looked like he was forcing himself for some reason.
'Least they seem to be getting along now...maybe?' she grinned and went back to haggling.

Oschon, Oh Oschon
What did we do to thee
That you'd let us be ravaged by
