Me too at the start! Everyone new it's so easy to feel that everything is 'beyond amazing' and then find out later that 'oh, it's only sort of amazing' and more importantly as things aren't brand new anymore they (at least in one color or partly) depreciate in value. Granted not everything is possible, but a little creativity can make something simple go a long way. A coat, a hat, come gloves, a hooded cowl. Say it's lined with fur.
I guess overall the most important thing is never think about a reason not to go to an event. Make up an excuse, make up a reason, ask people to help to pull it off and get some pre-RP. People crave opportunities to help out and are just crouched ready to pounce on one idea.
People are awesome like that.
