Though I've answered as Jet'a to the poll, I actually made each of my characters with one of the eight elements in mind, since I have 8 slots anyway XD. Each character was made with characteristics and personality that I think reflect one of the elements, it's just an habit I have.
Jet'a: Ice. Cold demeanor, slow movements, he doesn't run around, and seem to prefer to stand still even as he fights. Though he is a BLM OOC, IC I RP him as an icemancer. I might start to dab him on SMN if the Shiva Egi is released (and he'd only use that one IC), we'll see. He also has ice blue eyes.
Blue: Water. Much like water does, Blue seems dependant on who she is with in whatever situation, not existing by herself. She always needs a "container" of sorts, one who will shape her into a real person. Much like how water has no form in itself, Blue shows no emotion on a normal basis, though she is easily affected by others. Her hair and eyes are of a deep ocean blue.
Vincent: Light. Polite, pure, innocent and kind. Vincent is a conjurer in and out, existing for the sole purpose to soothe others. He has white ear clasps and prefers to dress white in general.
Chiara: Earth. Motherly and nurturing, Chiara is the embodiment of earth. She dresses in gold armor when she fights (she's a paladin, a protector, a quality often associated to Earth, think of Titan-Egi for example), and in autumnal/earthy colors when she doesn't. As a goldsmith, she works with ores, elements provided by earth itself. Her eyes are amber-coloured.
Kujh'a: Thunder. Kujh'a's ambition to become a dragoon is no coincidence. Like thunder, the idea of performing jumps and striking from above with a single, precise attack excites him. He has an "electric" personality, unable to stand still and loving adventure. His excitement in life sometimes "shocks" those near him. I made him hate rain as a pun at this thundery nature.
Dylise (now dead)/To be Au-Ra female: Wind. Dylise had an aery temperament, loving to travel and never staying in the same place for long, but always carrying with her something from the places she last saw (scents in the wind). Her personality could be soothing to some, like a breeze, or violent like a storm. She was a bard, as songs are often associated with the "air".
Clive: Fire. Born and raised in Ala Mhigo, and a martial arts performer by profession, Clive's wild temperament is nothing if not firey. His passion for women is associated in the same way as fire is often seen as the element of passion and sex, but at the same time, he is detached with his partners, not wanting their company out of the bedroom (scorching passion) and not seeking commitment. His hatred for beastmen and the Gods inherited from his Garlean education made him into a warrior who leaves nothing but ashes behind himself. Plus, he's hot.
Valeria(to be Fantasia'd/name changed into my Au Ra male): Valeria is a traitor to her nation, she works as an underling for a black marketeer and a slave trader, and her fate is pretty surely death. Once I take care of that, she will be turned into an Au Ra Dark Knight, and I think I need nothing else to show how fitting that is to the element of this character slot.

To be an interesting, intriguing, well-written character, there needs to be something to allow the audience to relate to them. That is what the problem is with who wants their character to be "perfect". Perfect characters will never be strong, and strong characters will never be perfect, because WE (those who read, who watch, who RP) are not perfect.
"What makes a strong character is how they deal with their flaws, their fears, their turmoils, their troubles that get in the way. That's what makes them relatable." -- N.C.
