Tropes notwithstanding, I still found this story sequences some of the best of the MSQ.If you remember, I don't remember which patch it was, but it showed that the Ascians were behind, and controlling, Ishgard.
Now, my own thoughts...
...which will be led off by saying how MUCH I WANTED TO SLAP the leaders of each of the nations of the Alliance. Â A small group of random blades offered to help Ishgard, but full and absolute credit taken at the banquet. Â Even my beloved Admiral...all of you can line up and eat my ass. Â Srsly.
Watching Nanamo die (sorry I have a very hard time believing she's not dead) was probably one of the hardest things I've had to witness. Â Seeing a Lalafell woman in tears instantly incurs in me a need to murder the cause of those tears....mercifully, Raubhan's response was completely appropriate. Â Most satisfying villain death in this game, bar none.
No, srsly Rauby, you scary.
I don't see the Scions as being killed. Â I've watched more than enough anime or cartoons to know that when your mains get a fade to white, they almost are always able to miraculously avoid the powderkeg they set off around themselves. Â I mean, it'd be amazing if they stayed dead, but someone as patently useless as Minfilia just doesn't die that easily, even if those that went before her went out like absolute bosses.
Pipin is sexiest Laladude now. Â Sorry, Chachan. Â :<
I'm almost positive that Urianger is meeting with the Ascians as a form of parley or as their guest than anything else. Â Nothing in the conversation between the two--however short--seemed to indicate anything more than the cordial greetings of two negotiating sides.
I'm most excited about what will happen next. Â Ishgard is an awesome place to hide away while Ul'dah loses its shit, and the apparent lack of immediate Ascian machination in everything going on was refreshing, though I'm sure at some point or another we'll have some deux ex machine nonsense that paints them as being behind ALL THE THINGS MWAHAHAHA. Â
Seriously, I hate the Ascians, and not for the reasons Squee would like.
Ultimately, though, I was completely wrapped up in the whole thing, tropes, silliness and all. Â I enjoyed the hell out of it, I can't wait to see more, and I can NOT WAIT to get into Ishgard proper. Â I want more. Â I NEED MOAR. Â And I've got two months' wait to get it.
Hnngggh....
