I'm quite sure that people wouldn't mind that much a character that randomly goes about and spouts silly things from now and then, to liven the place up, but going about and spamming random emotes... isn't exactly the way to do it, I think.
"in which I ran around touching the butts of a multitude of characters in search for the luckiest butt in the Quicksand"
is rp to me. Â Stupid rp, yeah. Â Spammy rp, yeah. Â Maybe mostly ooc rp, yeah, but still rp.

While I do get the point you're dragging across, I don't exactly agree with most of it or even see that it fits. Behaviour like that loosely hangs on the balance of lolling and honestly, I don't want to feel forced to blacklist someone just because he went on a random... goofball spree. Especially if the person is a roleplayer. It just gives out a bad impression and you know the first ones are the most difficult to erase.
We're playing with other people, so we should be aware of that all the time. As I said and as many have said before, QS is quite the busy place so blurping out emotes that aren't RP, ergo do not contribute to the RP scene in any way is counter-productive and even... just bad. As I said before, it's best if you do these sort of things somewhere else and prefferably in the closed groups of friends (God knows I've goofed around with my friends a lot of times in wow, but we never went on to disturb someone's RP). I also agree with Edda's point that the thread doesn't do much help. It seems to me as if you were trying to see how the community would respond so you knew if you could try something like this again. I dunno. Maybe I'm being too vindicative at this point.
I guess to me I have a kneejerk reaction because I've been in places before where I was sidelined because my style of rp didn't fit into the meta. I just... man, he'll self correct if the people he wants to play with no longer wish to play with him, but I dunno. Like I said, I enjoy a little bit of stupid every now and again. I know maybe this seems like a silly place to be all high horse blah blah blah, but... prior bad experiences on my end. It's one thing if it's a niche community where there's rules everyone has to follow, but on places like mmos, it's a self regulation thing. If people want to conform to the community and rp with a majority of people, they'll find the hard edges of peoples' tolerance by who is and isn't willing to rp with them.
Mebbe this is too out of context, I dunno. But to me it's just like... if I was there and I didn't like it, and I knew he was a mostly serious rper, I'd either just ignore or blacklist, and let him do his thang. He's welcome to his silly.
