seriously. if she doesn't know you very well or you just met, use her full first name. for a long time that version of her name was for only two people, its slowly growing to her friends using it and she's okay with that. but those that don't know her; she feels like they're taking a liberty they haven't been granted.
yeah sure it could be considered nitpicking; but let me ask ANYONE that has a name that can go either short or long and i'm betting most of them have a preference on which one they like (for one reason or another) and it gets under their skin if someone uses the less liked one (even if they don't make an outward big deal over it)
