That's new, although there's a lot of unseen code in Microsoft Word. It's actually why some editors have a "special paste" function for just Word.
I'd suggest only pasting Word stuff into the editor when it's in Source mode. You can either change your default to Source mode in your Edit Options, or you can just keep it as is and be sure to click the source icon in the second row of icons BEFORE you paste anything over. That may solve the problem. Don't ever try to copy content from a Word file while the editor is in the 'wysiwyg' (what you see is what you get) mode.
