Secondly, might I ask where you're hanging out in FFXIV that you're encountering these "wall of text people"? Some locales are better than others, and some are... well... many of us like to refer to it as "chat scroll" and you're more likely to encounter ridiculous amounts of text in busy areas like pubs and taverns. The Quicksand in Ul'dah (a.k.a The Adventurers' Guild) is notorious for this.
