That doesn't change the fact they're purposely keeping his face shrouded for a reason.   I don't think anyone can deny they go out of their way to create an aura of mystery, and to hide it beyond a few peeks. It would only be news to us players, I bet a fair amount of people in Ishgard know his face. He's just kept from us for the suspense.
