How long had it been now...two bells? Three? All Steel knew was cold and despair and the thick sensation of tension hanging over the Brume along with the frost. It was an eye-opening experience for her, seeing the people of low birth go about their daily lives. There were small clusters of people together, huddling for safety in numbers as much as for warmth. There were eyes shifting along the walls, scanning as if shadows would manifest in to form and leap out in rage.
And there were, of course, no new Knights to be found. It would seem they were content to simply let the animals sort themselves out--wait. A suit of armor. The tunic and plate helm and shield of the Holy See's Knights. There was one.
Steel watched the Knight walk along, head moving from side to side and hand resting on his sword pommel much like the last one. He stopped before her, along the opposite wall. He scanned across the area she sat huddled in. His gaze settled upon a target as he easily walked forward.
A few Hyur crouched around a pile of glowing embers, muttering among themselves. When they heard the footfalls of the Knight, they all stopped and looked up, standing as he approached. There was little other response beyond that. Their voices fell to silence, their eyes downcast or looked away towards anything that wasn't the Knight's helm.
Maybe this is him...
The Knight stood before the group, only a few paces to Steel's right side. She remained motionless, body balled up as small as her joints would allow. The Knight looked from one Hyur to the other, then swiftly withdrew his weapon, the point aimed towards Steel.
The Roegadyn sat bolt-upright as the Knight's swordpoint closed the distance with a few simple steps. Her eyes locked to his, which bore the same chill as the steel of his weapon.
"I don't recognize you, cur. On your feet."
Steel did as she was bade, her full height unfurling before the Knight like a sail slowly opening in the wind. She stood just about an ilm or two taller than he, and her broad shoulders and hips made themselves aware of her size despite the cloak she wore.
The Knight's grip on his sword tightened, his eyes narrowing as he visibly tensed up in the face of the woman's size. "Remove your hood", he commanded. Steel's hands slowly rose up to pull the hood off of her head, revealing her face. Beneath the mask, Steel could hear the smirk in his voice. "Aye, I've definitely not seen you here before. Looking for a way to breach our defenses once more, Heretic?"
Steel's mouth opened to respond, but the Elezen's swordpoint inched closer to her throat, silencing her protest. "You are under arrest for suspicion of treason against the Holy See. Come with me."
