The way I learned it, way back in the MUSH days, was that powerposing -- what I think "autoing" is -- was sort of a subset of godmoding (from "godmode," a la the FPS term, since Back Then, we didn't have no "mod" scene, and we had to telnet to our RP, two miles, on a 9600bps modem, uphill both ways...). It was basically forcing someone to accede to your wishes, either by narrating result along with action or by "forcing" someone to act as you wish through abuse of the emit system. A very classic case of powerposing was actually on a MOO, where a griefer abused emit to have characters engage in various sex acts.
Godmoding was a superset that covered the "undefeatable super character" business along with powerposing, but powerposing had certain mechanical aspects to it that usually led us to refer to it separately.

Nah, you are correct Freelance. We used 'Autoing' in Ayenee (Yahoo chats) back mid 90's. (We as in Ayenee players)
It is a 'change of the times' sort of thing. Autoing was an 'automatic hit' vs god-moding which was as Freelance said; "Undefeatable super character".
So it's really just a matter of where you came from, what your background is, and how long you've rped. I've used autoing for many, many years. I still consider 'god moding' as something as having a hyper-fantastical character.
This doesn't make these terms wrong. It just means well... You're old. Haha. So like Freelance I fall into the "I am old" camp. And just to edit on; these terms are super subjective. What may be 'godmoding' to one person is something else to another. Again, this isn't to say that one is right or the other is not. Just where you come from.
Anyway this has gotten off topic from the original post, but I did want to address the above. Should anyone want to discuss Ayenee and the terms that generally come from it feel free to PM me.
