When my father was asked about his experiences in the Vietnam War, he summed it all up with, "I've seen some s---, man."Â
And that was it. Â I do know what some of that stuff was, his three best friends from HS all dying within weeks of arrival, his mental breakdown, going AWOL, serving time, becoming an alcoholic, losing his kids (me), and so forth.
"I've seen some s---, man," might not sum everything up in a neat bow but it's been my experience that the people who can't stop talking about it - never did it. Â And the people who did it, don't want to talk about it. Â If anyone asks Mia what it was like in the Coeurlclaw, she's not likely to talk about it.
But that's just my perspective on it.
