My skin has been acting up and dry patches are very stubborn - living on the east coast west coast doesn't help either. :c I used loreal lumi true match foundation - which is one of the more hydrating foundtions i've never used but STILL - the patches will not go away. You exfoliate them away and they come back the next dayÂ
Also lipstick new find (actually not new, i've had it for a while but i just picked it up and started wearing it more and more recently!) - smashbox be legendary lipstick in primrose. It's a beautiful mauve pink color, very hydrating but pigmented. Wearing it today and have been in the past week!! It's the only smashbox lipstick I have tried but so far the experience is excellent
Coming from someone with nasty combination skin all year round, put on some heavier duty moisturizer on those dry patches before you put on your makeup. Within 2-3 minutes of washing your face or being in the shower, you need to moisturize. Try to avoid hot water on your face. If the dry spots continue, try some jojoba oil -- when I start getting flaky spots, I use homemade heavy duty stuff (shea butter, jojoba oil, beeswax, vitamin E oil, arrowroot powder) on the flaky spots, and that usually helps. (editing to add: this is the same shit I use on my moderate eczema, that I double-checked with my dermatologist and allergist on -- it's gentle and will help lock moisture in. )
Too, if it's persistent, use a heavy nighttime moisturizer.
If you can, give the moisturizers 20-30 min to soak in before putting on your makeup. You need to help your skin keep its barrier so it's not getting stripped of what it needs.
