Hello and welcome!Â
One of the neat parts of Final Fantasy is that you really do not have to have that much familiarity with the rest of the series to understand and individual setting. The series more transfers over familiar concepts (jobs, enemies, spells and abilities, etc.) and places them in a different setting each game. My biggest suggestion is to devour the lore specific to the character/concept you are thinking of playing rather than all of it at once. There is a LOT of lore out there and it can be daunting (particularly when you get to the stuff that contradicts the other stuff). Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or what not, and make sure to look over some of the threads here on the forum. Soussy and others have done a good job compiling specific pieces of lore together. Look it over and ask questions!
Welcome welcomes again, hope to see you in zee game. ^ ^
