I think the lore itself tried to portray a poacher a bit like that, which is Pawa Mujuuk (of the archer class quests). She is every bit of cocky, charismatic to a fault, and I suspect that Silvaire didn't exactly got tricked by just 'blinking away for a second' when she escaped. You might want to look into it for better ideas.Â
You also have the lore around the Coeurlclaw clan, which can offer a lot of morally grey areas (the post moogle quest line portrays one of them and you learn that a lot of them didn't exactly ended up there by choice at first). Note: the Coeurlclaw are just the most notorious of poachers, but independent little bands like Mujuuk's group are non affiliated for example. There is also lesser poacher clans, like the one in the East Shroud: the Raptor poachers I think?
