I love it. honestly what you can do is look at fictional magicians like Trixie from My Little Pony or better yet, Zatanna from DC comics, both are stage musicians who use real magic in their stage performances. When in doubt just think about what might look cool and flashy and go from there. Those were the two I first thought about when making my character! Trixie mostly as I'm not super familiar with Zatanna but I do know of her.
