And that's a perfectly fine way to view it. There's a lot of room for interpretation in this game's lore and it makes for very interesting and unique player characters. I will never attack anyone for playing a pretty character, and I hope no one will ever attack me for playing a rougher-looking character. Both are completely viable and make perfect sense in FFXIV. Personally, I just enjoy consequences more than many others do.
