One thing you might also consider is selling items on consignment. Perhaps, for example, you have no skill in alchemy. Someone else does, but they have no funds to own and operate a store front. Maybe you sell their items as specialties for a limited time, while taking a small cut for using your store front? That way some other folks, like the blacksmith out in the wild, can build their businesses too, in a different way. It also would help foster other forms of RP other than "Hi, I'd like to buy something!"
