That's also an entirely legitimate perspective. Since the lore and mechanics don't really explain it, it's a big grey area with a lot of options for different, equally valid points of view.
That said, it's worth considering how that'll work with Jobs, since many of them have a DoM requirement. However, that particular subject is a little off topic on this thread.
