Best Buy and Gamestop both take 5 dollar deposits to preorder. It doesn't require you to actually pay the rest of the game.. But, they still give you the codes.
Not sure if there are any codes left, though.
Yeah, but how would I use that with the copy/account I had from FFXIV 1.0? Wouldn't that code be for a new copy of the game?
Now that I think about it, my best friend preordered a copy in store at Gamestop today, and got early access.
No, the code they give you is the same code you put into the preorder.finalfantasyxiv.com website (That could be the wrong link, but you get the idea). Before entering it, you log into your 1.0 XIV account,a nd they email/give you another code. That second code is the code for early access, which you register onto your account via a link on the page they give it to you on.. Or, you can register it upon trying to log into the game.
Alright, so if I'm understanding this correctly I should, theoretically, be able to go by Gamestop tomorrow, pre-order for 5 bucks, get the code, activate/register it to my 1.0 account, then head back to Gamestop and cancel my pre-order and still be able to get in on the early access, yeah?
