When levelling or soloing it shouldn't be too bad. If you want to do Endgame though min-maxing will be more helpful for the group.
However you can reset your points, there is an item you can buy from your Grand Company Quartermaster. It costs 10,000 Seals so you will need to farm a few FATEs to get one but there are always lots of parties that go around grinding them anyway so it isn't difficult to find a group to do that.
