Pirate eh? there are a few groups out there who might suit your tastes, as Shizu said The Hungry Wolf, there is also the "Black Lotus Cartel." Maybe take a look at the forums and linkshell hall for a few more.. In the mean time! I have a few links to share with you. Ordinarily they are scattered around the site, but I think it can help to know there are a few key ones in a sea of information to latch on to when you start.

Since this is your first MMO I highly recommend taking a look at this RP Handbook put together by Eva, A bit daunting at first glance, it is broken down into sections that I think should make it a bit easier to get through. Many of the ideas put forward should serve to create a solid foundation for your experiences here and down the road.

"Balmungs Finest" is all about grouping up to tackle content, from Satascha, to Titan, if its group based, chances are you'll find people here willing to tag along.
Hopefully that helps you get a better idea of who you might run into out in the wide world. Perhaps most importantly is knowing that the RPC was started by roleplayers, for roleplayers, you are free to ask questions, make comments, raise concerns and everything in between, both here in the forums or shoot some one a PM!
