On a side note, I believe I have suggested this in some other thread before or at the very least talked to some RPers about it that are looking for RP or trying to join in on a public RP.
Names. Names names names. Use FULL names!
Large group? Even better. Using names can be 'hook' enough to at LEAST get acknowledged IC and USUALLY gets a 'glances at' or 'looks/peers over to' and the sorts.
Simply seeing your characters name somewhere other than at the left side of the chat box is enough to garner attention to see what the entirety of the post is about.
Example:
    Tobias Nightbringer approaches the group in the Quicksand. He first takes notice of Tiergan Vashir standing alongside Lurial Vashir. The siblings (assumedly) were in deep conversation with Francesca Laverre, with two others flanked on either side of her: Vash Ashford and Val Nunh. Just then, the Midlander takes note of yet another sauntering up to the gathering; Faye Covington. He wouldn't be surprised if Liadan Summerfield sho--and suddenly she too appears, gliding down the flight of steps with a trailing Brynhilde Wulf, whom he hears calling to the growing party as Rhesh'ir Zhwan waits at the bottom of the steps for them.
Tobias decidedly gets the Seven Hells out of dodge just as Cloud Strife crashes the party.Â
