Because they have such a hard time progressing, once they've managed to get what they have... they don't want anyone else getting it, either. They're not going to care much about the actual hardcore raiders, but they need to have someone to look down on.
Hence "elitists."
I just find it funny because I used to think all hardcore raiders were elitist, because that was the impression I got from the plethora of elitists. Â I was very surprised to discover that most of them really aren't. Â I think everyone has one or two elitist streaks, but most hardcore raiders just really...don't care.
