Shamad Conde was the youngest son in a family of 5. He was born in the deserts near Ul'dah. His parents were traveling scholars with their own beast. It was big enough for the whole family plus a few guests. They made money transcribing magical scrolls. He was 5 when his brothers went to Ala Mhigo to study different methods of magic. They were killed in the Garlean attack. Shamad and his parents became estranged for the next 10 years. They went about their daily business without saying a word to each other. Eventually Shamad couldn't take any more silence so he ran away. He got to Ul'dah before life became very difficult. He had to scrounge for food and water. He joined the Ul'dahn military when he was 16. It was a hard life. They would go out into the desert and fight the hordes of beast tribes. He was trained in the art of killing with magic. How to use it in special ways to maim and kill with slight effort. He became a ruthless killer. It was all good until his 19th birthday. There was an Aetheryte accident which left him changed. He became distant and strange. He was easily distracted and startled easy. He was diagnosed with aether sickness, a condition not uncommon to soldiers using the Aetheryte portals as often as they did. They discharged him and sent him on his way. He is now on his way to Limsa Lominsa to see what he can learn.
