Out of curiosity...

Is there any reason to hold the event on the 13th every month? I know the real-life connotations with spookiness and the thirteenth, but I'm wondering if perhaps turn-out suffered due to the 13th not always falling on a weekend. I know I'm worthless most work nights.

No reason you can't fluff it to always being the 13th of the Eorzea-month when you hold these events, and that'd free you up to just do it like, last-weekend of the month or something.

Just throwing a half-formed two cents out there.

Oh I agree! It used to be set during the weekends but 'Spooky the 13th' has a nice ring to it.

Every event has always had well over 70 which is great and that is not why it's being cancelled.Â

We are currently getting a larger staff for one and we now have 2 pearls: one for OOC fun and the other for IC action.

There were a few too many that loved the concept but were never obligated to join or help with the events yet they wanted to soak up the RP and be in the event without really helping or practicing (yes, we practice the events Tongue

)

I might change things around someday. Who knows! I appreciate the 2 cents. They are gold from you.Â Thumbsup

I think that if you expect people to directly join your linkshells or specifically help out, you might want to put that in your event announcement. Â Or make it a closed event. Â The way the event is worded, at least to me, sounds like you just want to have people to come and RP and participate. Â But from what you're saying here, you're upset (or at least displeased) that the people that wanted to RP and participate in the event weren't interested in actually being workers for the event, or in practicing ahead of time.

When you make something a chore, people will inevitably stop getting interested. Â And by implying that you only want people who want to be in the linkpearl/work actively at the event, or at least that you are displeased with those who do not...well, I know I would not feel welcome at such an event.

No, no, no, no.

Everyone is welcome to the event in general, I meant participating in it as an employee to the staff. When you have well over 70 RPers showing up to each event, you have to be in the loop with the other players as to what is being sold, where the stations are, ect.

I provide actual menus for events, offer prizes and of course, plenty of RP.

From an IC/job perspective, would you really bring a person hired into the LS who promises to be a good bartender, ect, but never shows up to practice to learn his drinks, pick up his uniform, or get to know his fellow associates, come to a major event as an employee? Probably not, no; but they are allowed to come as a patron as some have done in the past.

In the end, most RP events hosted become chores, whether they are military organizations, a hunt FC or raiding. It's something that can't be overlooked. The only difference is I make it as fun as possible by paying the employees and offering them and anyone else who wishes to participate in a wider spectrum.

Awww, I'm saddened this event was cancelled, it sounds like a load of fun! I was wondering, is there a time you do this on a weekend? I would LOVE to participate but I work 10 hours a day (8 work but 2 hour travel time) and don't usually get home until 6:30 - 7p.m PST time.

Hello! It's always on the 13th of the month (though now it varies depending on my schedule)! That being said, I plan to have a Spooky the 13th in December as much as I wanted to have it in November.

As for the timing, worry not! The event begins at 5:00 PST and usually concludes a little after 8:00 PST. Come by, even if you're late! The next event will likely be where it was supposed to have been in November. Contact me in game or ask around to speak with someone affiliated with the Piquant Pumpkin!
