Ok, it seems that from now till January 5th most people have a decision to make. Are you going to continue playing the game and start paying for it, or are you going to give up on the game until another date down the road, or are you going to give up on the game altogether. Anyone have any thoughts?

Also staying but removing both of my supporting characters since $3/slot is absolutely ridiculous. I am concerned as to what this will mean for the future, as a lot of folks I stay in touch with from FFXI are saying that the stigma is already in place and they're going to be hard-pressed to undo all of the bad reviews and poor press from early on.

I'm staying for the RP though and I personally have a lot of hope for the quality of the game in the future - I just hope that that is enough for average folks to overcome a certain stigma that seems to have been created.

I don't know, really. I'll probably keep an eye on the game. But, I need to see some more gameplay elements before I really start thinking about paying. RP-wise (Though I'm not in there, either yet), I'm sure it's fantastic - but it's a game, too.

I think The Old Republic will have to tide me over for a month or two before I take a check on the ol' FFXIV again. The stigma is definitely there, no matter what game you go into and ask random people in.
