Kind of.
My mooncat's name used to be Trick Silverpaw, but I changed the last name to be more convention friendly while still keeping the general sound and theme (Silvrapah). The first name's just an easily pronounced nickname from his give name "Maltriq'to" I also have an Elezen named "Faye Cadenza" who just flat out ignores the naming conventions. I'll use the naming conventions when I can, but I like "word" names (Violet, Trick, Bear, etc.) so I'll bend the conventions a bit to fit a particular name that really fits my character. |

I think I will partially, at least for the first name. My Miqo'te's last name is actually a nickname given to her by some highlander buddies.
I've decided on the name Beia (or B'eia, Miqo'te spelling?) Quickclaw. |

I actually really like all of the naming conventions, so all of my characters (both 'roleplay' and 'non') follow them, though Zaeira Sntyrr seems a bit off to me for a keeper name.

Thanks. She's a Seeker. I wasn't sure how the clans used the apostrophe. |

My Seeker was raised by a Midlander, so... no, not really, though I suppose I follow the naming convention for Hyur?

Nnnnope! Bea's name was picked by the large influence of Hyur in the area. Beatric being very much Germanic in origin. She's got a typical Roegadyn middle name, though it's rarely ever used and largely something she does not associate with herself.

I make the same basic main character in each game I play, and I form his background around each game's lore. I'm doing the same thing here. He's a Miqo'te this time around, but I didn't want to change his name. Plus, the tribal thing really doesn't fit with the character. So instead, I created a background within the lore that explains why he doesn't have a tribal name. Basically, he's from the city. His grandparents left the tribes many years ago and took on common names, and it was the common name that got passed down through the generations. The tribal names get lost. He has no connection to the tribes, so there's no reason for him to have a tribal name.
My alt is also a character I make as my alt in each game, but she's a Hyur here so her name fits. From there, if I make a third somewhere down the line for the third GC storyline, they'll have a name based on the conventions. |

I will, though going more off the gist of the rules than the rather sparse Elzen lore section. They may have just as well said, "the Elzen are french deal with it".
Any Moogle, I just took my current online ID and changed it from Roger to Rogier to be more french. |

Yup, Zarek Windsoul is fairly close to the conventions considering the character & his story so far.

I think Khaze'to Zhwan fits fairly close with Zhwan being a keeper surname from 1.0 and Khaze being his mothers name. Â But then im playing his background as kinda tribal.

I've done my best to stick to name conventions, and so did my RP partner with his male Miqo'te. We mostly took ideas from the Japanese name generator, which is really useful because it also comes with the pronunciation written in katakana.
I have tried to find other characters whose names would be lore related. The character's name is the first thing that indicates that the player has studied the lore, and to me it mostly means that they *might* be RPers, so I give it a lot of importance. Clover Blake (Hyur) / K'mih Yohko (Miqo'te) |

Oh actually this topic is one I have a question about, for IC reasons I will be calling my character in RP something different from his true name when I create him should I use the name he will call himself "Amyr Mythweaver" or his actual name "Amyra'a Tsio"?

After looking at the miqo'te naming conventions... absolutely not. Waaay too limiting for my tastes, and I don't want apostrophes in my name.
Instead, I've decided that my character will be coming from a community in which there has long since been intermixing between the clans. For the sake of game mechanics, my main character, Fejar, will be a keeper because I want him to have the nicer mage stats, while his sister Lumei will be a seeker, as she's likely going to be a marauder (with a swift change to musketeer if they'd ever release it.) However, in character, though they might display features of their mechanical clans, they're definitely going to be hybrids. As such, neither of their names will be tailored to fit the clan specific naming conventions, because they don't actually belong solely to either clan. This topic is under Nikolai's control. You cannot obtain crystals in this topic.
Nikolai is on the rise. |
