Hello there! My name is Mel, I'm old, fat and geeky. I have an addiction to glitter, role play, flash fiction writing, pink and cute things--so far, that's working well for me. I am the proud mom of 4 rescued shelter cats and 6 rescued shelter birds and happily married to a giant Star Wars geek. We locate each other in large stores by Wookie calling one another.Â

I have been told I am generally disgustingly upbeat. I am okay with this!

Someday when I never grow up, I would like to be published despite my horrible lack of grammar skills.

I have a much milder, but just as serious addiction to MMORPG games. You may know me from suchÂ moviesÂ game names as: Anthracite Ironbelly, Jahnya, Ssinjin, Suliss'urn, Ameria, Pinkatron and Pinkles.

I have been a casual FF fan for several years, a role player but promise I will never shove my hobby in anyone's nostrils and ENJOY ALL CAPS SHENANIGANS FREQUENTLY. I apologize to anyone who hates all caps in advance.

I hope to get to know all of you and enjoy this fantastic game together.

I've gotta ask. How does one (safely) adopt both birds and cats? I imagine there would be cheaper ways to feed the cats. >.>

Bwuahaha. Well, we had a 'tiel before we adopted our first cat, Flora. So she's always sort of been around a bird. She's never payed him any attention as long as he's not on the floor (which we don't let him wander around on anyway.)

The next cat we adopted a few years later, we had the two 'tiels, two quaker parrots and a blue crowned conure. So Isis came into our family with big giant birds. She had a mild interest in them, but a squirt bottle of water and a gentle, "Nope," to accompany it broke her out of the habit of going near the cages or the birds at all when we brought them out.Â

When we bought the house and adopted the last two birds--budgies--(Sadly, one of the 'tiels passed away recently. Originally we had 7 birds) we repeated the process of using a squirt bottle on the kittens for any behavior we didn't like. It's humane and boy they respond quickly.Â

So that's pretty Â much the trick to it in our house. We don't let our birds hang out on the ground where the cats are, and the cat's don't hang out in cages/on our shoulder so it works!Â

It's true. I have a dark elf problem as well as a pink and glitter problem, which is funny, because all my dark elves feel stabbing someone as a means to saying hello is ok and so is bbq baby.Â
