K'hai walked through Sagolii, unsure where he would go at first. But decided, he had come all this way to return to the tribe, it would be an injustice to his journey to not at least see the tribe camp.

Even as he climbed the sand dune, he thought of the tale K'ailia had told him. And it still angered him. And even his own sister's behavior had served much to confirm K'ailia's side. But still, he'd made this journey, he would see it to its end.

As he reached the top of the dune, he saw a rider on a Coeurl... could it be he was already spotted? He stood at the top of the dune, waiting on the rider. But he also looked beyond the rider, and saw the camp. It was much smaller than when he had left. Many must had died in the calamity.

Xha'li looked up when he heard someone approach him, and grinned when he saw that it wasn't the angry male who had gone off,  tilting his head towards the north he said, "Originally?  I was born in raised in a small Keeper farming village in the southern Coerthas foothills until I was 17.  Now I live in Limsa Lolimsa."

Getting up he walked over to his pack and the Chocobos, rummaging around in the pack he came back a few minutes later with one of the chocobo's in tow and a simple bridle in his hand, looking back towards the pink-haird Miqo'te he said "Just let me get the chick tied up to Rin and I'll be all set til dusk, so you or your fellow hunters can do whatever you feel you need to be certain I'm no threat to your tribe."  Bending down he worked the bridle over the sleeping chick in a manner that showed a good deal of experience and tied it to the reigns on the adults bridle leaning close he whispered, "Keep him out of trouble Rin, and don't go running off."

K'nahli's words softened right before K'rahto could snap again. The Tia took a moment to look at her as she asked what he wanted her to do, actually taken aback by the change in her arrogant attitude. All the hurry and aggressiveness he’d displayed a moment ago seemed to fade for that wordless instant, in which he simply stared at her with a weakened frown.

He barely had time to regain his speech when a familiar and treacherous hand suddenly pinched his ear. K’rahto shut his eyes tight and made a pained sound. When he turned his attention towards his sister, embarrassment and annoyance were all over his features.

“I was about to do that!” He groaned to both K’iara and K’zhumi, his pride hurt like many other times. ‘You won’t treat me that way when I become Nunh’, was his next thought, a forced form of comfort as he positioned himself to grab the board. He waited for K’nahli to do the same with the other side, albeit he avoided looking at her then.

[…]

The pink haired miqo’te observed what the stranger was doing with obvious curiosity, fingers toying with each other behind her back. She watched how he walked to his pack, and she still stood in the same spot when he came back. Perhaps her stare could be unnerving, but she truly meant no harm.

At his words, her expression seemed to sadden a bit. On countless times had she heard that the outside world was a dangerous place, full of dangerous people, but she was unable to mistrust that miqo’te. The boy merely wanted to feel welcome and have a place to spend the night at, what harm could he cause? He wasn’t being rude to her either, he wasn’t armed…

When he talked to his chocobo, K’mih smiled innocently. She didn’t want to discuss threats or punishment; she wasn’t there for that reason.

“Rin…” She repeated, looking at the chocobo. Truth be told, she’d always wanted to have a chocobo of her own, a friend she could take care of. Then, turning her eyes back to him, she said with a friendly –albeit slightly shy- tone.

“I’m K’mih.”

Xha'li inclined his head politely, "Xha'li Moui, and if you want to shorten it use 'Li', as Xha's my mom."  Looking towards Rin briefly he rested a hand on the chocobo's neck and grinned towards K'mih, "You can come say hi to him if you want, long as no ones pointing sharp pointy things as me, him, or the chick he's rather mellow."

(This post was last modified: 05-04-2014, 11:16 PM by K'nahli.)
The adamance in her gaze yielded while it slowly wandered back and forth between miqo'te as each took a turn to interject into her and K'rahto's mild disagreement. The girl found herself fading from the comments, slowly submitting to the increasing volume of her own thoughts - though not before hearing K'iara's instruction.

("The board..?") she asked herself quietly, hardly a second before her eyes then fell upon it. Of course... it's purpose almost seemed too obvious now.
Looking towards K'iara, K'nahli responded with a simple and silent nod to express her understanding.

The idle, unrelated chatter that followed, however, fell upon deaf ears; the words and the lips from which they were born bearing no meaning to the girl's now, wandering mind. Her maroon eyes seemed to glaze over after a moment, resembling red dahlia's that had been gently coated with a veil of morning dew. This was neither the time nor place for it and yet... somehow she still found herself bickering with someone; yet again. Though she struggled to find an honest reason as to why, K'nahli resolved only to blame herself. It was, after all, usually her fault anyways. It only made sense that it was her doing but she were simply too ignorant to understand why.

An unheard sigh whispered out over her lips in lament before she glanced upward, noticing now that K'rahto had already gripped on to the edge of the board opposite her and was impatiently awaiting her cooperation. Her body seemed to react on it's own from there, carefully positioning itself accordingly before steadily pushing upward to lift her own side of the board, her thoughts however, lingering in a far away place. Being very meticulous with each step she took, the girl slowly and steadily dropped down from the cart, stopping only for a moment after both her feet eagerly greeted the sand to exhale softly with relief. Cooperatively, the pair both meandered around the cart with a carefully-executed wide angle, taking the utmost care with their precious cargo as both she and K'rahto turned on the spot to begin carrying their injured kin safely in toward the camp's boundaries.

K'rahto, now having his back facing their destination, had the convenient excuse to look over his shoulder and avoid meeting the archer's fiery gaze. She on the other hand, was watching him carefully. Her glance was curious, uncertain; like a young drake studying a sandworm that appeared a challenge beyond it's experience. Her softened expression - ever so faint as it was - was gently moulded by her own curiosity as her brow furrowed slightly. Why did he feel the need to pick at her like that? As far as she was concerned, they had left on normal, if not good terms with their previous two encounters. What could she, the girl he so arbitrarily felt affection for - to the point of risking his own health even -, have possibly done to earn his frustration?
Her gaze remained upon him for a few moments longer. Each time her vibrant stare was interrupted by a curious blink, she did so slowly - as though the action served to punctuate each passing thought and declare the ripened beginning of another.

"....hmph.." the girl finally exclaimed to herself, perhaps a little more loudly than she had intended. Had she embraced defeat too readily? K'rahto was just as... no, more comtemptuous than she was on her worst of days. Yes... it definitely wasn't her.

Her gaze upon the tia was severed in that instant, gliding a little away from the male so that she needn't anger herself any further by looking at him directly. Quietly, they both continued with their simple task; the discomforting silence, however, feeling as though it were only catalyzing the tension that was undoubtedly growing between the pair.

The undercurrent of rage faded fast the further he was from the camp. If he did not have to look at the stranger, if he did not have to be reminded of K’ailia, if he did not have to accept the outsider’s presence, then he could calm. It was beyond his understanding that the Elder could so easily accept an armed and arrogant stranger into the camp. Did they not think? If they accepted him into the camp, they had to feed and provide for him when they already could not do so for the countless family members. Why then, would they accept an outsider if they would not accept their own daughter? She was flawed and foolish but brave and confident and skilled. K’ailia should have been welcomed back before some outsider claiming a long lost worthless Tia for a father.

But the bitter thoughts in his mind only left a bitter taste in his mouth, for K’yohko all too well knew that there was nothing he could do. The Elders had chosen this path, and he could not oppose them. He could never oppose them. If he opposed them, surely as the Nunh the entire camp would fall apart. What little dying family they had left would be shattered and the Hipparon would be no more but a spec of memory to the wandering survivors.

That was a fate he did not wish to inflict upon his daughters or the women whom had mated with him. It was a painful thought.

K’yohko looked back to the camp, his eyes honing in sharply upon the small moving figures and the scents that wafted up towards him. Would K’nahli listen to his order? He did not hold his breath that she would. She was too stubborn, too foolishly proud to ever listen. And in the coming days, she would learn to listen. K’yohko couldn’t help the bitter promise to ensure that K’nahli learned her place. He would not have another daughter exiled because they did not know respect.

A strong smell suddenly entered K’yohko’s sense and he turned his head towards the source. Across the dunes stood a figure, a stranger. And yet the scent was not of a stranger. Although it had a strange smell to it, K’yohko could smell the undertones of home. He strained his eyes, trying to recognize the man. He was still too far away. K’yohko’s memory did not recall the miq’ote at that moment.

K’yohko urged his Courel forward towards the stranger, hoping to get a better look and recall the strange face that seemed so familiar. He rode until he was only a few feet out from the man before dismounting in a swift motion. He stepped in front of his best and examined K’hai, his face as stony and unmoving as K’hai might have recalled it from so long ago.

“You seem familiar.”
K’yohko called out. He seemed an almost untouched figure of time. His voice as deep and flat as it had been five years ago.

K'hai recognized the rider immediately as K'yohko Nuhn. K'hai nodded and stepped down from the dune, so that he could better see him.

"Yes, I am K'hai Tia, K'luha's brother, and you are K'yohko.", he replied.

K'hai sized K'yohko up, the nuhn was as proud as ever he could tell, though he himself, had lost much of his former muscle mass.

"Were you sent to escort me back to the tribe camp? Or was our meeting coincidence?" he asked after a moment.

K'hai Tia, there was a name K'yohko had not heard of in a long time. But he remembered the name, and the face although it had changed. K'hai, he recalled, came to the battle of Carteneu; along with himself and K'thalen, K'ile, and the others. Like so many, he too did not return from it. K'yohko had thought him dead, even when a woman told him it to be aether sickness or something strange like that, K'yohko had thought the sickness would kill him. But after all this time, he returned? Surely Azyema was playing some very strange and twisted game with him, and more certain still K'yohko found himself to be losing that game.

"No. I came out to hunt." K'yohko replied cooly. There was no sense in lying. This man was family, unlike the other. If he should hunt for anyone, it would be his real family. Not some imposter outsider son of a Tia. "K'luha and K'ile have just returned to camp with an outsider. The Elders will be busy currently. Have you the strength for a hunt K'hai? If not, the camp is just down the hill."

K'luha was getting unfortunately used to having no say in where she was moved or what was done to her. It occurred to her, that she might have been better off abandoning it all like K'piru and just leaving with K'ailia. But as they might say in Limsa, that ship had sailed. There was comfort in seeing what was left of her family again though. At least it was something.

So K'luha tried to stay calm as she was moved, biting down on her lip while K'rahto and K'nahli carried her off to the shaman's tent. Her eyes moved to linger on K'ile's flaming hair and blue eyes. She hoped he wouldn't tell the Elders the truth, or rather that they would believe her over him. She had tried to take as much of the blame as possible. He was in enough trouble as it stood but... Regardless of all of the rest of that, she hoped that he would at least visit her while she was healing. But, if not, she knew at least that Tahj would be there. She still hoped he would come like he said he would.

K'iara watched her brother and K'nahli haul K'luha away with a frown. Those two... what was wrong with them anyway? She shook her head and turned instead to K'zhumi. She reached her hands out so K'zhumi might hand her whatever bags or things she needed carried.

K'tahjha held her breath as she watched K'nahli and K'rahto pick up K'luha and lower her out of the wagon, releasing the breath as they made it to solid ground without any missteps. She was torn between following them and doing as she was told. In the end she turned her attention to the healer's supplies carefully picking them up and placing them in the bags, careful not to spill anything. As the first bag became full Tahj passed it back to K'zhumi and ensuring nothing was left behind, she picked up the second bag to carry herself.

Trusting her brother and K'nahli to move her patient carefully, K'zhumi turned her attention to the young one at her feet. Noting how carefully she handled the supplies, checking each container before placing them in the bag. Taking the first bag from Tahj, she turned and passed it to K'iara with a smile. Glancing back to Tahj she noted all the supplies were packed and nodded in satisfaction. Her leg seemed a little stiff after kneeling on the hard floor of the wagon for so long, and it gave slightly as she stepped down from the wagon to the ground, but she caught herself with a frown and began heading to the medical tent.

K'hai nodded, "I'm strong enough. But I have doubts the tribe would accept me back, given all that had transpired from Ul'dah, to here."

He thought of how out of frustration and anger, he had struck his sister because of her scornful words. And then, to see their behavior with those who were exiled. But now, he too was guilty. He had willingly spoken with K'ailia.

"And besides, I would only add another mouth to feed to an already starving tribe. I would not add to the tribes burdens.", K'hai responded, "But if you merely wish my help in the hunt, I will accompany you. There would be things I'd like to discuss with you regardless."

The sand was forming drifts against K'ile's feet, and he could feel Azeyma's gaze burning it's way through the reddened skin of his neck, shoulders, and back. He watched his family working together, even if K'rahto and K'nahli were doing so with bitterness. They took K'luha back eagerly, and would apply the same energy to restoring her health, he was sure. K'tahjha was helping K'zhumi, a good place for her, and he saw no one treating her as anything less than a sister. K'mih was interacting with the exile's son, and nobody was stopping her from doing so.

K'yohko's anger had been rejected, along with everything it implied.

"K'iara!" The Tia shouted out to the woman, still near the wagon. "That wagon is load up with food and water! Make sure it gets covered up and stored! We're going to have a feast later!" He turned, then, to follow K'deiki. He smiled at the elder, saying while he walked, "It was really hard work to squeeze a feast out of that trip, but I managed it! And for a good reason."

K'deiki paused in her push through the low dunes towards shelter, letting out a rattling sigh and squinting towards the tia. His form was a fiery silhouette to her failing vision, and she found herself grateful for their firedancer's return, even though his leaving had stirred some ire. Far too many of their family had left and not returned. This had never bothered the elder before five years ago, but now... every single one was precious.

"Feeding your family is a good reason," her voice rasped, milky eyes smiling with the relief she felt. The effort to travel out to survey the situation and hand down her judgment had drained her more than it should, and she leaned heavily against her walking staff. "But feasts with reason... it's not yet midsummer, firedancer."

"We'll be in more plentiful lands and feasting on fruit and roots by the time Midsummer comes." K'ile found himself smiling broadly. Despite his exhaustion, hunger and thirst -- almost as if he had been fasting while riding home on a feast for dozens -- he energetically followed K'deiki and even walked a ways past her towards the elders' tent, his eyes on her the whole way. "No, this is for ritual, celebration and contest like none of us have seen since the sky fell. You should pass punishment on me quick once we're with the other elders, so we can talk about it!"

The aged woman trudged after K'ile, letting the enthusiasm in his words and behavior wash over her like Azeyma's warmth and carry her to the elders' tent when her own strength may have failed. She pushed through the thin hide flap into flickering shadows in silence and said to the vague outlines of the other two denizens, "Our family is home now."
