So I got the Entry service because I didn't think I'd ever want to make an alt and I still don't really but I'm really missing the power to be able to make one time NPCs for events and things.

My account is still a ways off before it renews the subscription. I want to be able to upgrade to Standard without being charged extra and without having to cancel my account.

Is there a way to set up a Standard subscription and have it start when my Entry subscription would normally restart?

Anyone have any experience with this? I find this to be quite baffling and the website doesn't explain it at all from what I can see.

First, wait until your current billing cycle finishes. SE supposedly adjusts/pro-rates if you change an option mid-cycle, but I haven't tested this myself.

Log into SE's site Â or Mog Station.

Click "Account Services" up near the top.

Click "Reoccurring Subscription Setup" on the Final Fantasy XIV tab.

Scroll down to your billing information, first option is your subscription type. Click from "Entry" to "Standard".

From there, you do need to continue through your billing information. You're basically just confirming that the rest of your information is still correct at this point. If you back out/close/cancel before you finish going through this information, your account won't be changed from Entry to Standard.
