Perhaps we should add this link: Server Selection News Room

For new voters to read, before deciding on which to vote for.

There is perhaps no phenomenon which contains so much destructive feeling as moral indignation, which permits envy or to be acted out under the guise of virtue. - Erich Fromm

Even if they open with 40, they will likely consolidate them down to 10-15 before a year passes.

Total tangent, but WTF is up with the constant use of the non-word "Chillax"? Makes my eyes bleed to see that. And get off my lawn!

WRT forms of voting, democracy is the least efficient way to govern a body. Not to mention, usually over half the voting body disagrees with the "majority", so you never get a concise direction, and there's always dissent over the results. A benevolent dictator is the best option (though the most susceptible to corruption), with a republic being the next best choice (our council).

Try phrasing the poll results it this way: 66% of the roleplaying population does not want to play on Lindblum. Doesn't sound like such a popular choice for a server anymore, eh?

Sorry, lesson in politics concluded for the day. :study:

If the Lindblum disappearing act was just a glitch and has been resolved, someone needs to check how many chocobos it has (indicator of population).

For now, our best bet is to continue on with the poll as is. Although there's now a tiny possibility that we won't be announcing it to the fan sites yet. We'll have to see how it goes in the next few hours. If not though, we have the newspaper teaser pretty much ready as a "consolation prize" for the fan sites >.>

Depending on the circumstances, we can always reevaluate everything before final release. Character data gets wiped anyway and name theft is near impossible unless someone is intentionally be a douche.

2 Chocobos for Cornelia and Lindblum atm, 3 for Figaro and Mysidia. All the others at 1.

Edit: And Besaid gave birth to so many great characters, qq.

Lindblum has two chocobos. I just got in and made Siben.
Figaro and Myshaujkasdfbk have MAXIMUM CHOCOBOS

Lindblum appears to be at two chocobos, with Mysidia and Figaro at three, and I believe one other server at two.

Relax, let the poll finish. Everything will be fine. It's just a server. And as Castiel says, at least the newspaper teaser is pretty much ready. ^_^

Oh well, sucks for Mysidia, then.. We don't want a full server to start on!
Go Lindblum!
Funny fact: I been playing FF IX again, after downloading it on my ps3 and just got out of Lindblum after the Festival of the Hunt. Tongue

My linkshell is a little impatient and wants to decide tonight on their server. I'm already making them hold off. There's no way I can make them wait until the 15th for an answer. I'm definitely not in favor of that. Sad

However, they originally wanted to play on Trabia. I pushed them to switch to Lindblum because it looked like that would be the winning RP server. But everyone is complaining about how Lindblum is way more crowded, full of people in the starting zones, and the server has already crashed.

I'm going to intentionally hold off on saying anything in this week's column either way.

Funny how more people are agreeing with what some of us said from the start about voting being a bad idea. Tongue
Dooooooooooooooooooom!

Anyways. Lindblum's in the lead, there doesn't seem to be any huge server-filling groups going there so far... All's well.

My only hope is we don't need an overflow server.
Frankly, I'm against the idea of having an overflow server. If we end up needing one, we need to reevaluate our options, I think. The goal of the RPC is to unite RPers, I'm sure it can be done without splitting them (us).

But that's just me thinking about the worse.
Let's not do that. Let's think about the best.
That is, us making our immovable home on whichever server wins and RPing happily ever after.

The only thing that would suck if we needed an overflow server is by the time our server got full and needed that it would be all the ps3 owners having to go to the overflow server if that happened, which I hope it doesn't. Like you said Asyria is the goal of the RPC is to unite the RPers.

By the time the PS3 version hits, server populations should be settled and overcrowding a non-issue. I believe we're more worried about organizing folks for the first two weeks, and avoiding queues for the first three months.

While the News Room thread doesn't report Lindblum as being a home for any major groups, I'm reading in more than one place that the GameFAQs crowd is going there. And Rocs Lock.

The idea behind an overflow server is to just provide a temporary solution until something else can be worked out. I wouldn't expect it to remain an "overflow server" for long. The population of the game is likely going to drop within the first few months and servers will likely level themselves out. I'm sure quite a number of people will quit after their free month is up and they realize this isn't the game for them. The fatigue system may work to our advantage in that regard Laugh
