Good afternoon/evening/morning, friends.

I had dabbled in FFXIV a while back and was excited to get my proverbial foot into the proverbial door of roleplay, as I am an avid and frequent roleplayer in WoW (Vandanir, kaldorei druid on Moon Guard, hit me up!).

I created a character on Gilgamesh, made a few friends to RP with every now and then, and joined a free company, but never seemed to really get my finger on the pulse and eventually just fizzled out when walk-up roleplay simply became hard to come by.

I was just hoping for some helpful hints on where to go to meet new people. I have resubscribed and am excited to jump back into it, as this game does so many great things for roleplayers that other games do not.

Hi Whuggles!

I'm sorry this post hasn't been responded to so soon. You might have an easier time with this sort of thing if you check out the Gilgamesh section of the forum.Â

You can also poke the Making Connections section, though personally I've not seen a lot of success there (Two threads and never had a response).

Mostly, though, what I recommend is the following:

-Locate an event or place where there is roleplay going on.Â

-Find someone whom you think looks/sounds like s/he would be interesting to interact with.Â

-Send that person a tell asking if it's okay to interact (sometimes they're in the middle of something or mostly AFK or ERPing in tells, w/e).Â

-If the person says it's okay, then walk on over and say hi.

-I'd try not to get romantically involved until your characters are long acquaintances. Be friends first.

I wish I could give you more tips, but I'm actually on Balmung. My best suggestion, like I said before, is to check out events where players are going to gather and talk to people there if they're wiling to hang out.

I'm also just catching it now (since I've been away for a bit due to RL stuff), but if you can find your way into the Adventurer's Guild linkshell on Greg, then there's a pretty active community roleplayers on it with all sorts of OOC chat and setup banter.

Also, echoing the statement that you'll find a lot of Gilgamesh players (that I know) prefer to use their own forum outside the RPC-- which is a slight shame, but I digress.
