For the past few days, a new song might be heard playing at taverns and other places where minstrels gladly tread. played to a slow melody, usually on the piano, but it could be adapted to any instrument  ( For reference, the tune is to the  Song of the Lonely Mountain ). If asked, the person playing might point to another bard they'd heard play it, but if someone followed the chain of musicians, they'd find themselves at the Harbingers of Dawn estate, following tales of a red-haired Ala Mhigan Midlander playing the song at their tavern night.
Far over the ancient Black Shroud cries
A city stands up on the heights
What was before we’ll have once more
Our nation a distant light
Windy Highlands beneath the moon
The words unspoken, we’ll be there soon
For home a song that echoes on
And all who join us will know the tune
Ala Mhigo we’ll never forget
Garlemald we’ll never forgive
Haven’t seen the back of us yet
We’ll fight so long as we live
Their lies opened the door
To Gyr Abania borne
Our hearts a gathering storm
Until we get our unforgotten home
We lay on in Gyr Abania’s wold
On and over, the Highlands rolled
We must away, our home to take
Against the darkness a torch we hold
From long before the Fists were spurned
Til this day our hearts have yearned
For her fate we moan, the gryphon’s throne
What was stolen must be returned
We must awake, and take the day
To find a song for heart and soul
Ala Mhigo we’ll never forget
Garlemald we’ll never forgive
Haven’t seen the back of us yet
We’ll fight so long as we live
Their lies opened the door
To Gyr Abania borne
Our hearts a gathering storm
Until we get our unforgotten home
Far beyond, the Black Shroud’s folds.
(Got bored and came up with this song. It seemed to go over well at the Tavern Night I played it for, so I thought I'd share it here for anyone to enjoy or for any bardic players to have use of. =] Please let me know what you think if you want.)
