This was a thing on tumblr for a bit: using dollmakers to better create/customize characters. From things like hair styles, outfits, and more! I found quite a few of these helpful.
The Tudors dollmaker is really nice for Ishgardian characters. Many of what is features fit the overall aesthetic and is great for armor, regal clothing, jewelry, and hair styles. Both for males and females!
Fabulous hair is for chicks, but you can do a LOT to better capture the hairstyle of your character.
Azalea's and Doll Divine are both good sites to look at for other dollmakers for both male and female characters!
